Dietitian Consultations

You are a unique individual. You deserve a higher level of care, individual attention and a holistic approach which respects you as a whole person. I provide this higher level of care to all of my clients.

As both a Health Coach and a Registered Dietitian, you get the benefits of both approaches in your sessions with me. As a health coach, I can help you reach your wellness goals by using proven strategies from psychology that facilitate meaningful behavior change for the long-term. And, as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a Masters degree in Nutrition, you can feel confident that I have the knowledge, training and experience to provide you with correct guidance around nutrition and healthy eating.

I am effective because I have a special knack for getting to the root of the problem and helping you create reasonable goals that will improve or solve the situation. I am also a unique blend of empathetic and no-nonsense, so I will be your cheerleader and encourage you but also challenge you to stay on track with what you want to achieve.

The initial consultation with me is 60-90 minutes and includes a thorough nutrition assessment in which I provide you with my assessment of your current diet – what you’re doing well and where you could improve based on your unique situation and taking into account any chronic conditions you may have. To help me assess your situation accurately, I ask you a variety of questions during the session so that I can get a full picture of your current diet and lifestyle, the current state of your health, your medical history and what you’d like to improve about your diet. Everything we discuss in the session is confidential. After the session, for your reference, I provide you with my written recommendations and the list of goals (action plan) that we created together during the session.

Follow-up sessions are optional. However, they are very effective with helping you get on track and establish habits which will improve and support your long-term health. Follow-ups are typically once or twice a month and scheduled at a time that is convenient for both of us.

Most people would benefit from multiple sessions with me. Changing habits takes time – working together over multiple sessions will increase the likelihood of your success in making long-term changes. However, there is no long-term commitment required and no sales pressure. I’m simply here to help in any way that I can – whether that’s with 1 session, 3 sessions or 10 sessions.

In our sessions, we can focus on 1 key area that’s important to you or we can work on improving multiple aspects of your diet and eating behavior. It’s all up to you! I will be your guide on this journey and provide you with nutrition education, guidance and support that’s tailored to you. However, you will also play a very active role in our sessions. I will give you my thoughts, impressions and offer my advice, but then it’s up to you to decide what changes you actually want to focus on and create goals around. We’ll discuss that during the session and together come up with a solid plan of action that’s doable and that will lead to the outcome that you want. From there, you take the ball and run with it – I will be your coach and cheerleader spurring you on and helping you strategize and problem solve as you make your way down the field towards the goal line – and ultimately to touchdown!

I would describe my approach to nutrition as moderate but also open-minded. I don’t like extremes as I feel like extreme approaches don’t work well for most people in the long-term. When considering the needs of each of my clients, I take into consideration evidence based, tried-and-true interventions as well as alternative medicine approaches.
